Introduction
Matayoshi Kobudo is one of the oldest and most comprehensive systems of traditional weapons training in the world. Practised for generations by the Matayoshi family the martial art was formally structured during the 20th century by Master Matayoshi Shinko and his son Master Matayoshi Shinpo. It continues to develop to this day under the leadership of Matayoshi Yasushi Soke.

The Matayoshi family art of Okinawan Kobudo has many weapons in its system however the main weapons taught include Kun (staff), Sai, Tunkua, Nunchaku, Ueku, Nunti, Manji Sai, Kama, Kuwa, Sansetsukun, Suruchin, Timbe.
